Dr. Mikesell Receives Kiwanis Award
Dr. Malinda Mikesell received the Kiwanis Service to Youth Award on July 20, 2021. The Service to Youth Award recognizes excellence in service to the young citizens of Cumberland County.
Recipients are acknowledged for exceptional leadership that, by example and effort, provide programs, funding and/or services to support initiatives and organization that work to improve the lives of young Cumberland County residents. Dr. Mikesell was instrumental in launching the Read to Learn, Learn to Read Program for students in grades K-2 for Carlisle Area School District. With support of the Carlisle Kiwanis Club, the program allows students to self-select three books each year to build their personal libraries. Dr. Mikesell has taken the lead with this program working with the Kiwanis Club, elementary librarians, teachers and principals for over six years.
