Financial Aid and Scholarships
SCHOLARSHIPS:
There is a list of the local scholarships who have provided us with information on every CHS student's Schoology page. Students should visit their Class Schoology page regularly (twice a month or so) to check for new scholarships which may have been added. To view the list, go to Schoology, the senior class page, McGowan Counseling Resources, Financial Aid and Local Scholarships and click on the Local Scholarships listing.
All scholarships advertised in Schoology either provide the online link or the student can access the printable downloads section to print out the paper application. Students can also stop in at the counseling office to pick up a copy of the applications.
Included in this local scholarship list are those scholarships that are available to Carlisle High School students only, as well as those available to students from a wider geographic area. Read the eligibility requirements in the “FOR” column to determine if you qualify. Then take a look at the “Selection Criteria” to decide whether or not this is a scholarship for which you should apply. If you apply - it’s very important to follow all instructions carefully; to make sure that any required printing or handwriting is neat and legible; and to adhere strictly to deadlines. You may also view this list in the McGowan Counseling Center and obtain any that require a paper application.
Financial Aid Night was held October 17, 2023, at 6:30 PM in the McGowan Auditorium.
FAFSA Completion Night was on January 17th, 2023, at 6:30 PM in the Fowler Library at Carlisle High School.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):
The FAFSA will be available on December 31, 2023. Families will use their "prior, prior year data" to complete the FAFSA and other financial aid forms.

For help filling out the FAFSA, contact PHEAA http://www.pheaa.org . There are also many downloadable resources at the FAFSA website https://studentaid.gov/
Both of the websites listed above provide great information to help you in your search for financial aid. And please feel free to contact a counselor if you have any questions . If we don’t have the answers, we’ll find someone who does.
General Financial Aid Information:
The sources of financial aid can be divided roughly into three categories:
The first category is governmental aid. All students seeking need-based aid from the state and/or federal government will need to complete the FAFSA (the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.) FAFSA’s are available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and may be completed after October 1st when family income information for 2016 is available.
The second category of financial aid is “institutional” aid – aid awarded by the post-secondary schools on the basis of need and/or merit. Students and families should inquire at the financial aid offices of the schools to which they are applying to make sure that they are completing any necessary forms. Some schools provide their own forms, and some require applicants to complete the CSS Profile (available at www.profileonline.collegeboard.com. ) For many schools, the FAFSA is the only form you’ll need, but do your research so that you don’t miss out on money that might be available to you!
The third category consists of scholarships sponsored by civic organizations, businesses, private individuals, etc. We will advertise those here below as we become aware of them. Check this site often because we update it frequently, and please adhere to deadlines!
