Carlisle at PIAA AAA State Championships

Monday, November 5

The Carlisle Cross Country team competed in the State Championships over the weekend and continued a tradition of excellence. The boys ran a solid team race and placed 11th. This was the 6th year in a row the boys have finished in the top-15 at States. Leading the way for the boys was Jack Wisner and he was followed across the line by Casey Padgett, Evan Peachey, Bryce Dunkelberger, and Jacob Morris.

On the girls' side Sophia Toti made a little history of her own with her 14th place medal. In doing so she has become the first girl Coach Boardman has had in his 13 seasons of coaching at Carlisle to now hold medals in Cross-Country, Indoor Track & Field, AND Outdoor Track & Field!

Carlisle at District III Championships

Monday, October 29

The Carlisle Cross Country team competed in the District 3 Championships over the weekend and are once again sending many of our runners on to States. For the 6th consecutive year the Boys team has qualified by placing 3rd scoring 217 points. Leading the way was our only medalist, Jack Wisner who finished 4th. The rest of the team who will be representing Carlisle at the State Championships are Evan Peachey, Casey Padgett, Bryce Dunkelberger, Jacob Morris, Jacob Owen, Andrew Booths and Michael Ginter.

The girls team came up just short of a team trip to states, but placed 5th overall with 223 points, just behind Exeter’s 222. 5 underclassmen scoring for the Lady Herd were Sophia Toti, Sophie Salomone, Alyssa Dyson, Alyson Henry, and Gretal Shank. Sophia Toti placed 9th overall and will join our boys team at States next weekend.

Great job again to our Cross-Country teams and wish them well at States next weekend in Hershey!

Carlisle at Chambersburg

Wednesday, October 10

The Chambersburg Cross country teams were able to postpone their fate by two weeks, but the outcome would be the same. The Herd had to postpone celebrating by 14 days, but the Commonwealth Division crowns remain in Carlisle for another year!

On the boys side we simply overwhelmed them at the front thrashing the previously undefeated Trojans by placing 4 in the top 5. The final score was 23-33 and leading the way was our victorious duo of Casey Padgett and Jack Wisner who were followed closely by Evan Peachey and Bryce Dunkelberger. Jacob Morris rounded out the team scoring as our 5th runner and the Herd have now "run" their Commonwealth streak to 3 years in a row. The last time the boys lost a dual meet was in September of 2015. The boys end this dual meet season at 8-0.

The Lady Herd would not be outdone. As the only undefeated team left in the Commonwealth they left no doubt breaking the Lady Trojans on the last mile of their own course. We pushed 6 runners across the line before the Chambersburg #1 for a 15-47 win. (The worst possible loss in Cross Country is 15-50). Sophia Toti, Alyson Henry, Gretal Shank, Sophie Salomone, Alyssa Dyson, and Cera Schulke were responsible for the win. Delaney Mullen ran well finishing 10th wrapping up the team score. The girls also end the dual meet season at 8-0 and claimed their 2nd consecutive Mid-Penn Commonwealth title.

Carlisle at Lower Dauphin/Northern

Wednesday, October 3

The Carlisle Cross Country teams travelled to Lower Dauphin for a crossover meet with both the LD Falcons from the Keystone and Northern from the Capital Division of the Mid-Penn. On the boys side Jack Wisner won the race and was followed closely by six of his teammates: Casey Padgett, Evan Peachey, Bryce Dunkelberger, Jacob Morris, and Andrew Booths. The Herd won both meets easily placing these 7 runners in the top 10 overall. Final scores were 15-50 over Northern and 19-41 over Lower Dauphin. The boys are now 7-0 on the season with the Commonwealth division on the line next Tuesday against also undefeated Chambersburg at Chambersburg.

The girls team finished up yesterday with a similar story. Leading the way for the Lady Herd was Sophia Toti winning the race and she was followed by four teammates: Alyssa Dyson, Gretal Shank, Sophie Salomone, and Cera Shulke. Our girls placed our scoring 5 all in the top 7 to pick up two more wins. The final scores were 19-38 over Lower Dauphin and 19-36 over Northern. The girls also remain undefeated at 7-0 on the season and are the only team remaining in the Commonwealth without a loss.

Carlisle at State College/CD East

Friday, September 21

The Carlisle Cross Country teams traveled to State College yesterday for a meet against State College and CD East. On the girls side CD East put two in the top 3, but the Lady Herd put six in the top ten to easily run away from both teams. We defeated State College 19-40 and downed CD East 24-36. Leading the way for the Lady Herd were Sophia Toti, Gretal Shank, Sophie Salomone, Alyssa Dyson, Cera Schulke, and Karlie Powell.

On the boys side it was a similar story. The boys swept both meets taking the top 5 places. Final scores were 15-46 against CD East and 15-48 against the Little Lions. Leading the way were Jack Wisner, Casey Padgett, Andrew Booths, Evan Peachey, and Bryce Dunkelberger.

Both teams are now 5-0 with only one remaining meet in Commonwealth Division play, at Chambersburg on Tuesday.

Carlisle at Mifflin County

Wednesday, September 19

The Carlisle Cross Country teams traveled to Mifflin County last night and came home with wins. The Lady Herd rolled over the Huskies as Sophia Toti won the race and was followed closely by the next 4 scorers: Sophie Salomone, Gretal Shank, Alyssa Dyson, and Cera Schulke who all came in before the Mifflin 3rd runner. The final scores was Carlisle winning 123-35. The girls are now 3-0 on the season.

The Boys team ran into a Mifflin team that was ranked 10th in the state to begin the season, and they showed it up front. Jack Wisner won the race and Casey Padgett was 4th, but the Herd's depth was too much as we swept 6th through 11th place after that with Jacob Owens, Michael Ginter, Jacob Morris, Bryce Dunkelberger, Evan Peachey, and Andrew Booths wrapping up the team scoring. The final score was a 26-33 win for the Herd and the boys now also are 3-0 on the season.

Carlisle vs. Cumberland Valley/Central Dauphin

Wednesday, September 12

The Carlisle Cross Country teams hosted both Cumberland Valley and Central Dauphin last night for our first and only regular season home meet. The Lady Herd came up big with two wins to start the division schedule off with a bang. Sophia Toti won the meet and then our next trio of Sophie Salomone, Gretal Shank, and Alyson Henry all came in before the Eagles’ 3rd runner. Finishing off the team scoring were Delaney Mullen, Cera Shulke, and Alyssa Dyson. The final scores were Carlisle winning 17-44 over the Lady Rams, and 25-32 over the Lady Eagles.

The Boys team was really ready to roll and even if you would have combined the Central Dauphin and Cumberland Valley squads into one, the Herd still came out on top in a big way. Jack Wisner won the race and 5 more Carlisle teammates finished in the top 7 overall: Casey Padgett, Evan Peachey, Bryce Dunkelberger, Andrew Booths, and Jacob Morris. In our first scoring meet, the boys showed why they are currently deserving of their #6 ranking in the State of PA.
