Carlisle at PIAA State Track and Field Championships

Monday, May 25

Please congratulate our Boys Track and Field team on their 3rd place team finish at the State Championship meet this past weekend. Deshawn Millington collected medals and at both triple jump, where he was the silver medalist as well as high jump, where he was 7th. Isa Paschall placed 3rd at Triple jump then anchored our 4x100 meter relay to another set of medals with the help of Isaiah Banks, Junior Gaie, and Prince Gaye. Matt Wisner placed 5th in the 800 and was the only underclassman to medal in the event. Zach Brehm made history on several levels. As he won the 3200 in a PIAA new record time, he became the first runner in PA history to have won all three distance events over his career. His sophomore year he was the 800 champion, last year the 1600 champion, and now the 3200. Thank you for making Carlisle proud!

The Lady Herd had lots to be proud of this season as well, despite not bringing home State hardware. The relay team of Bre Clippinger, Allie Duffy, Najae Nickerson, and Abby Walters far exceeded expectations. Leanza Lopez is our new school record holder in the 3200, and Sarah Bourdon set a new PR at 11 feet, six inches at Pole Vault. Great job girls!

Carlisle at District III Championships

Monday, May 19

Please congratulate your Thundering Herd Boys' Track and Field team for successfully defending their District III Championship by completely overwhelming the rest of their competition. The 2nd and 3rd place teams could have combined and still failed to knock the Herd from the top of District III. We scored a total of 89 points led by triple gold medalist Zach Brehm who bested his own school record in the 3200 with a new District III meet record as well. The 4x100 meter relay team of Junior Gaie, Prince Gaye, Isaiah Banks, and Isa Paschall also set a new school record claiming silver in that race. Isa was the District Champion at long jump. Deshawn Millington won the triple jump and added big points at high jump and long jump too. Matt Wisner picked up a silver in the 800.

The girls team was led by Maddie Kole who was our highest finisher with a sliver medal in the 800. Leanza Lopez and Sarah Bourdon also qualified as individuals for states. The 4x100 meter relay has qualified for the state meet next week as well.

Please congratulate all of our state finalists and especially the boys as they look to better last year's runners-up finish at States!

The Thundering Herd welcomed Harrisburg to Ken Millen Stadium yesterday for the final dual meet of the season. The Harrisburg girls have a couple of the best athletes in the state, but Carlisle's depth in all events and across all events led to the easy dual meet victory. Event winners for the girls were: Lauren Clay, Maddie Kole, Sarah Frick, Debbie Stanback, Tyra Brown, Jilian Ingram, and Sarah Bourdon.

Carlisle at Shippensburg Invitational

Monday, April 20

On Saturday, April 18th the Carlisle Track and Field teams headed to Shippensburg University to preview the facilities where, once again both District III and State Championship meets will be held later in May. The Lady Herd fared substantially better than last year and despite not having a single individual champion, came up with a 4th place finish. The track events were where Carlisle fared the best picking up top-5 performances from several different girls. Julia Ledgett claimed 2nd place in the steeplechase. Caitlyn Padgett placed 3rd in the 3200. Maddie Kole got a 4th in the 800 and a 5th in the 400. Najae Nickerson picked up two 5th place finishes in both the 100 high hurdles as well as the 300 intermediate hurdles. Both the 4x400 and the 4x800 relays were in the medals and Shaylah Dukes took 6th place in the 100 dash. Finally, Sarah Bourdon chipped in 2 team points with her 7th place finish at pole vault contributing from the field, in a new lifetime PR of 11'3".

On the boys side things were not much different. Remember last year at this meet the Herd placed 4th and later went on to be runners-up at States so with this year's 2nd place finish, the coaching staff is well pleased with where we are right now. Much like on the girls' side the boys got points from many different events, but did manage one individual champion as Deshawn Millington defended the pit where he last won a state title and set a new meet record at triple jump going 47'6.25". He also took 3rd place at the high jump with a height of 6'2". Matt Wisner doubled well with a 3rd place 1600 time and followed up with a 4th place in the 800. Zach Brehm took 2nd in the 1600. Brandin Dyche placed 5th at steeplechase. Isa Paschall picked up 3 points with a 6th in the 100, while Deonte Ramsey was the surprise of the day nabbing 3rd place at triple jump with a 44'7" mark. The 4x8 relay placed 3rd and the 4x1 relay was only a few hundredths off of re-setting a school record. All in all a solid day for the Herd which used the meet as a stepping stone for bigger things to come.

Carlisle at Tim Cook Invitational

Monday, March 30

The Thundering Herd headed to Chambersburg for the Tim Cook Invitational on Saturday, March 28th for a non-scoring meet. Both boys and girls sides recorded some excellent performances as they get ready for a heavy dual meet schedule over the next 2-3 weeks. There were about 30 teams in attendance and Carlisle athletes notched quite a few top-3 performances highlighted by Deshawn Millington's new Meet record at triple jump of over 46 feet. Isa Paschall picked up a 3rd at the Triple behind him and the duo placed 2nd and 3rd as well in the Long jump. Isa also competed on the track winning the 100m dash and leading the 4x100m relay to a 2nd place finish. The boys distance squad chipped in as well as Matt Wisner and Zach Brehm cruised to a 1-2 finish in the 800, then joined the 4x400 relay and took another 2nd place there to end the day.

The Lady Herd was represented on the medal stand throughout the meet. Just like their boys' 800 compatriots, Maddie Kole and Leanza Lopez went 1-2 in the 800. Caitlyn Padgett finished 2nd in the 3200. Najae Nickerson took 2nd in the 300 hurdles. Sarah Bourdon won the Pole Vault and Cassidy Hoover nabbed a 2nd at Long jump to represent our jumpers. All three relay teams placed top-3, just a really nice, well balanced attack from a team that will not be content this year to just watch the boys' side perform at the highest levels. Looking forward to the first big test on Tuesday as we return to Chambersburg for our duel.
