Carlisle at PIAA State Track & Field Championships

Monday, May 27

Carlisle Track & Field had a big weekend at the State Championships! Both our girls 4x100 meter relay and 4x800 meter relay teams medaled. This appears to be the first girls relay medals at the State Championships since 1993! The 4x100 relay was comprised of all 4 underclassmen: Rileigh Cardin, Teresa Herring, Alex Fischbach, and Ella Boback. The 4x800 relay was made up of Sophie Salomone, Meg Tate, Meg Lebo, and Sophia Toti. Also earning individual medals for the Herd were Casey Padgett, who placed 8th in the boys 2mile run, and Sophia Toti who placed 5th in the same girls' event. Sophia's time of 10:25 further lowered our school record that began this season at 11:07! Also of note, our boys 4x400 meter relay failed narrowly to advance to the 2nd day, but in the State Prelims lowered our school record to 3:22.87. Congratulations to the relay made up of Robert Lissner, Caleb Padgett, Jack Wisner, and Cole Boback!

Great weekend for Carlisle Track & Field!

Carlisle at District III Championships

Monday, May 20

Congratulations to both the Boys and Girls Track and Field team for some outstanding performances at the District 3 Championships over the weekend!

The boys' team finished 2nd with 39 points, outmatched only by CD East. The girls' team finished 6th with 33 points.

The top result on the weekend was our one individual Champion, Casey Padgett, who won the 3200. Jack Wisner qualified for States in both the 1600 and the 800. Our other Individual District medalists and qualifiers to the State meet were Rashad Jeffries at Triple Jump, Kurtis Ravenel at Long Jump, and Cole Boback in the 100. The boys 4x8 relay team of Caleb Padgett, Casey Padgett, Andrew Booths, and Jack Wisner placed 5th to advance on next week. Then on the final race of the day, the 4x4 relay the team of Robert Lissner, Cole Boback, Caleb Padgett, and Jack Wisner broke our school record in the event from back in 1993. The new record is 3:23.41!

On the girls side the ladies weren't quite as high up the podium, but had a spectacular meet as well. We had two individuals qualify to move on to States, Rileigh Cardin at Pole Vault and then Sophia Toti who crushed her 3200 school record, lowering it to 10:30.86. Sophia also ran 4:58 to qualify in the 1600. We qualified all 3 relays to the States. In the 4x1, the team of Rileigh Cardin, Teresa Herring, Alex Fischbach and Ella Boback placed 3rd. The girls 4x8 team of Sophie Salomone, Meg Lebo, Meg Tate, and Sophia Toti were runners up and set a new school record, breaking the old mark from 1985 in 9:21.79. Herring and Fischbach, then joined Lebo and Tate to run the 4x4 relay into States, placing 5th.

Carlisle at Cumberland Valley

Wednesday, April 24

The Carlisle Track and Field teams travelled to Cumberland Valley yesterday and came home with a split decision. Our boys put up a good fight, but fell 81-69 to the favored home team. There were a lot of bright spots though that are encouraging as we now turn our attention to prepping for Districts in three and a half weeks. Leading the way for the Herd were our individual event winners: Cole Boback, Casey Padgett, Elijah Ibrahim, Robert Lissner, Rashad Jeffries, Joe Dimino, and Bryce Chapman. The boys now stand at 3-2 on the season.

On the girls side the Lady Herd handled the Lady Eagles and got past the last team in the Commonwealth that could have stopped an undefeated dual meet season. Leading the way for our girls were individual event winners Teresa Herring, Sophie Salomone, Meg Tate, Gretal Shank, Ally Richwine, Rileigh Cardin, and Marlise Newson. Carlisle vs State College

Wednesday, April 17

The Carlisle Track and Field teams hosted State College yesterday in a battle of undefeated Commonwealth teams. On the boys side we were up against the Indoor Track and Field State Champions from a few weeks ago, but hung tough throughout the meet. Holding them under 100 points was to be a minor victory and the Herd fell, but only by a score of 84-66. Leading the way for the Herd and keeping things close were our two double event winners: Cole Boback and Grady Chapman. Casey Padgett, Evan Peachey, and Joey Dimino were our other event winners on the day. The boys now stand at 3-1 on the season.

On the Girls side we were up against the team who had placed 2nd at States last year and who had won the Comonwealth Division title each of the past 3 years. Our girls fought for every point, and came out on top 82-68! Not one of our girls won double events, but we won all three team relays. Our individual event winners were Alyssa Dyson, Meg Lebo, Sophia Toti, Gabby Silvious, and Sabrina Starling. The girls are now 4-0 and the only team left undefeated in the Commonwealth. This clinches at least a share of the division title. It will also be the first year the girls Track & Field team puts up a year on the gym banners since 2015!

Carlisle vs CD East

Wednesday, April 10

The Carlisle Track and Field teams travelled to Landis Field to take on the Panthers of CD East last night. On the girls side the Lady Herd completely overwhelmed their competition and came away with another win, this time by a score of 95-46. Leading the way were our double event winners(all of which are underclassmen): Sophia Toti, Ally RIchwine, and Alyssa Dyson. Other individual event winners were Sydney Sayles, Sabrina Starling, and Gabby Silvious.

On the boys side it was a nail-biter with our boys up against one of the team favorites to win District 3. In the end it came down to a single point, thankfully in our favor and a 76-74 win. Our only double event winner on the day was Casey Padgett winning both the mile and 2 mile while also taking a big turn on the 4x8 relay which was a must win. Our other individual event winners were Cole Boback, Kurtis Ravenel, Elijah Ibrahim, Jack Waller, and Joseph Dimino.

Both teams are now 3-0 on the season and will host the only other undefeated team in the Commonwealth on both Boys and Girls sides when State College comes to town next Tuesday.

Carlisle vs Harrisburg

Wednesday, April 3

Carlisle hosted Harrisburg Tuesday in Track and Field:

The Cougars have a solid boys team but in many events our teams don't match up well. This made for an interesting overall meet as in 10 of the 18 events one team swept and the other team scored 0. At the end of the day though the Herd prevailed 88-62 in what was a deceptively close meet. Leading the way for the Herd was our only double event winner, Grady Chapman who took wins in both the Shot and Disc. Other individual event winners were Andrew Booths, Casey Padgett, Jacob Owen, Jack Waller, Elijah Ibrahim, and Robert Lissner.

On the girls, this was a lopsided meet. The Lady Cougars do not have the firepower their boys' team does and fell to our Carlisle girls 122-25. Leading the way for the Lady Herd were three girls all scoring 2 wins a piece: Alyssa Dyson, Meg Tate, and Ally Richwine. Other individual event winners were Alex Fischbach, Meg Lebo, Sophia Toti, Jaida Thomas, Marlise Newson, and Rileigh Cardin.

Both teams are 2-0 on the season thus far and hit the road next week for the first time against CD East.

Carlisle vs Chambersburg

Wednesday, March 27

Carlisle hosted Chambersburg Tuesday in our season opener in Track and Field:

Our boys overcame some early season adversity to hold off the Trojans by a score of 79.5 to 70.5. This marks the 7th year in a row that the Herd was victorious over our larger neighbor to the south. The boys were led by our only double event winner, Jamal Spells who won both hurdle races. Our other individual event winners were: Casey Padgett, Joey Dimino, Rashad Jeffries, Kurtis Ravenel, Elijah Ibrahim, and Robert Lissner.

On the girls side it was a very similar story. The Lady Herd took down the Lady Trojans by a score of 82-68. Sophia Toti was the only individual to win two events for us. Other individual event winners were Alex Fischbach, Sophie Salomone, Marlise Newson, Ally Richwine, and Rileigh Cardin.

Way to begin the Spring season Herd!
