Gifted Services at CASD

What does gifted education look like in the Carlisle Are School District?

Mission
To support gifted students in a dynamic learning environment and prepare each individual for prosperous and fulfilling futures by navigating enrichment opportunities and appropriate acceleration without compromising their mental health or emotional well-being. Carlisle empowers students to become lifelong learners, leaders, and contributors to this ever-changing world.

Vision
Every gifted student will leave Carlisle feeling heard and supported, content with their accomplishments, and confident in their futures having striven for excellence by exploring their unique curiosities, thinking critically, persevering when challenged, communicating effectively, and making their mark on the world through action, advocacy, creation and/or innovation.

Elementary
Carlisle Elementary School students will be introduced to a program that cultivates the unique potential of each gifted learner by providing a challenging, creative, and supportive environment where curiosity thrives, critical thinking is nurtured, and lifelong passions for learning are ignited. Our program strives to empower students to become innovative thinkers, compassionate leaders, and responsible global citizens equipped to make meaningful contributions to the world.

Middle
Carlisle Middle School students who meet the criteria may accelerate in math based on individual student needs. Sixth-grade math, pre-algebra, algebra 1, and geometry are available and may include online learning. Advanced English class is also available in eighth grade. Gifted students have small group pull-out lessons once a calendar week. Enrichment opportunities may include but are not limited to curriculum-based extensions, compaction, differentiated instruction and assignments, pull-out classes, and academic competitions.

High
Most high school gifted students’ needs for acceleration are met through enrollment in AP- and honors-level classes, so Carlisle High School’s gifted program focuses on enrichment with special attention paid to college counseling.  (Book Club, mini-lessons, ....)
