Parent Tips
- Read with your child daily.
- Encourage students to use sound tapping and blending strategies to read new words.
- Allow students to use their finger or a pencil for tracking to promote fluency while they are reading.
- Allow students to use a combination of reading styles- out loud, partner reading with you or a sibling and silent reading.
- Repetition is important when learning a new skill and keeping it!
- Visualize together. Help your child make a mental picture of what they are reading.
- Use board games or card games that you already have at home to help students practice reading flashcards or words sent home to study.
- Stay in communication with your child’s teachers.
